I want to thank Lyle Sall and the news reporter staff for reworking my column for last week’s paper.  I was at a meeting in Emmet all day and by the time I got back, my brain was fried.  I have one more meeting coming up on Monday, May 21st  and I know myself well enough to know that I won’t feel like sitting down and writing a column after the meeting.  So I’m sending this off early, on Friday, May 18th so There will be something new in the paper next week.
Why am I bothering you with the details, I don’t really know.  I guess it’s just my need to explain things.  But please , If I ever get to the point that when you ask what time it is and I tell you how to make the clock, please let me know.  That would just be too much, even for me.
By the time you are reading this column, there will be one more week until our “All you can Eat , Taco feed”  I’m hoping you have marked your calendars and are planning on coming out for a delicious meal.  The cost is still $7 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 12.  If you have a smaller child, say 3 and under, they eat for free.  It’s the start of the town’s Hells Canyon Days festivities and one of our more popular fund raisers.  Come on out and eat your fill, and relax with the knowledge that there won’t be any dishes to do later on.  Seriously, I hope you can come!
We will also be selling the last of our tickets for the ½ day fishing trip on the Snake river in Hells Canyon that night.  Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  If you win, you can take yourself and three friends or family on this trip with you anytime during this summer and fall fishing season.  They fish for Sturgeon, Trout and Bass.   You can get your tickets from any senior center member or come into the center as I have tickets here as well.
This coming  Wednesday, May 24th Tawnie Peterson, from the Adams County Health Clinic, is giving a talk on Skin Cancer at the center from 12:30 to 1PM.  She is conducting a free skin Cancer screening clinic the week of May 21st  through May 25th.  If you have spots that you are concerned about, this is your chance to have it looked at for free.  You do need an appointment, so call 208-253-4242 to set yours up.
She is also starting a new a new weight loss program  All new participants must attend the first class which is at 5 PM on May 21st at the Adams County Health Clinic.  Call 208-253-4242 to reserve your spot in the class.  I started this program in April and I’m already down 20 pounds.  I can’t say enough good things about the program.  I feel that we are so lucky to have this resource available in the Upper Country as most that are wanting a weight loss program have to travel to the Boise area to find the same sort of program.
We have some members celebrating or have already celebrated their birthdays this month.  They are Robert Bumgarner, David Fetter, Patsy Richel, Kay Van Order, Susan Platt, Jack Coburn, Frank Ehrlicher, Delray Platt, Margaret Ann Border and Charlie Caruso.  Happy Birthday to All of you!  I hope you are blessed with another year of good health and happiness, always.
This Wednesday, May 23rd, Ursula is making Roast Pork with Sauerkraut, mashed potatoes green beans, rolls, salad and berry shortcake.  On Friday, May 25th it’s Soup and Salad with ham sandwiches, fruit and dessert.
On Wednesday, May 30th, we are serving Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, rolls, coleslaw, corn and Oatmeal cake.
Have a great week everyone!
