The awards banquet and volunteers’ appreciation dinner at the Weiser Elks Lodge #1683, held on Saturday, March 16th , was extremely well attended. Along with the festive red tablecloths, decorations of glittery green shamrocks and leprechauns for St. Patrick’s Day(and, of course, pitchers of green beer!) added to the gaiety of the evening.
Lodge members and guests were served a sumptuous pork dinner, topped off by coffee and dessert. Following the dinner, Quincy Walla, the Exalted Ruler, presented gifts of appreciation to each of his officers of the lodge. Assisted by Oval Metcalf PER President, he then presented awards to the outstanding volunteers of 2018. The awards presented and the recipients for the year of 2018 were:
Frank Stirm, Elk of the Year. Richard Coronado, Esquire, Officer of the Year. Tim Bates , Grand Lodge Outstanding Service Award, also received a red Weiser Lodge jacket. Emily Mounts, for Outstanding Volunteerism.
Dee Freer, president of the Ladies of the Elks, presented the Lady Elk of the Year award to Jennifer Snyder. She then gave out the Couple of the Year award to Cale and Noreen Harvey.
The Weiser Lodge also received the Grand Lodge “ Making A Difference” Special Citation, for all our work in our area.
Although not everyone received an award, they all received the gratitude and appreciation of Quincy Walla who pointed out that there are many people in the lodge who have given countless hours of their time through the year.
