It’s official, the Jet Boat Raffle is underway!  To get your tickets you can stop by the center, Call the center at 208-257-3358, or ask any member for tickets.   There are only 500  tickets total so when they are gone they are gone.   Of course, the fewer tickets that are available,  the greater your chances of being drawn.  Say, for instance, if you only bought one ticket at $5 you would have a one in 500 chance of winning.  Obviously, the more tickets you buy, the greater the chance that you will win.  The tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  They will only be on sale for five and a half weeks as  the drawing will be held on Wednesday June 5th .
Ursula and I have made a pact , we are both buying tickets, and if one of us wins we will  take the other on the trip.  I have been on the trip once before and loved it and I think the addition of spending a night on the river just makes it that much more attractive.  Anyway, next payday, I’m going to start buying tickets.
Our member, Dinah Wells, that owns Dinah’s Fabrics  across the street from us, is once again having a raffle for one of two personal size quilts.   Half of the proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will be donated to project Linus, which makes and distributes handmade blankets and Afghans  to;  “Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need, through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers”.  The remaining half will be donated to the Cambridge-Midvale Senior Center.
The quilts are beautiful and can be viewed at Dinah’s Fabrics where they are hanging on the wall, or I have a picture of the quilts on my can for sold tickets on my desk.  You can purchase tickets at Dinah’s or here at the center.  Tickets are 1 ticket for $1; 6 tickets for $5 or 25 tickets for $20.

Then on Wednesday, May 15th it will be time for our food pantry from 1:30 to 3 PM.  The pantry is open to the community on a first come first serve basis.
Our monthly foot clinic has switched to Tuesday this month.  The date of the clinic is May 21st.  Appointments are necessary so if you aren’t already on the list, you will need to call me here at the center.  208-257-3358.
This coming Friday, May 3rd, @ 5:30,  we are serving Turkey and dumpling casserole with peas and carrots, salad, pears and dessert.  The following Wednesday May 8th, we are having our “Mother Day” meal.  Topping the menu will be Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, beets, whole wheat rolls, garden salad and Key Lime Pie!  Yum!
