After this past weekend, our little town seems eerily quiet.  Not that I’m complaining, mind you. I like quiet, but we really do need those extra days with celebrations and activity to help boost our local economy.  I would like to extend my public thanks to our town’s Commercial Club for putting in the extra effort to revive Hell’s Canyon Days. The Senior Center was certainly the beneficiary of some of the extra cash flowing through town.

We served 130 people at the taco feed Friday night,  and another 84 at our Hot Dog stand. Between the two events, we grossed around $1,500.  Which for us is a huge shot in the arm (so to speak) for our center. I want to thank all our volunteers for a job well done:   Pat Davenport, Jack and Elsie Coburn, Sharon Jones, Charlie Caruso, Genevieve Fisk, Lynda Yoder, Karen Atteberry, Kay Van Order, and Sandra Hansen.  Whether you baked cookies, chopped onions, chilies, lettuce and tomatoes, served and kept the dishes on the tables filled or cleaned up at the end we could not have done it without you.  Thank you!

This coming Wednesday, June 5th  we will be having our drawing for the Jet Boat Trip Raffle after lunch.  The winner will be called as soon as we know who it is. I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you that bought a ticket.  Someone is going to win, and it might be you! We will know on Wednesday..

We are having a good lunch that day, of Ham, scalloped potatoes , broccoli, cauliflower mixed vegetables, garden salad, rolls and pineapple dump cake for dessert.  If you come, you will get a front row seat for the drawing.

Our shopping trip to Ontario was moved up to the 4th of June, which is the day I’m writing this.  I forgot that fact, even thought I had talked about the change to the schedule in may.  I’m sorry if you missed the trip this month, but we will be back on schedule in July. The next trip will be on Tuesday, July 9th.   A signup sheet will be on the front table next week if you are interested in going.

I thought I would be able to see today after having laser on my eyes, however, my husband had another “incident” with his heart and we  ended up in the ER Monday morning from 2;30 to 7. After the events of Friday, Saturday and working my other job on Sunday evening, I was just too spent to go.  My husband is doing better, but it really was a scare. Thank God for his defibrillator- pacemaker, or I might have been a widow.

There will be more doctor appointments and changes to his medications and hopefully back to some sort of normalcy.  I realize that this probably par for the course for someone with CHF, but it sure is stressful on both of us.

I still have one pedometer left if anyone wants it.  I bought batteries so it is ready to go. If you want it, give me a call at 208-257-3358.  You can leave a message if I’m not here to answer.

Let me give you our upcoming menus:  On Friday, June 7th at 5:30 PM Ursula is making her fabulous Pizza’s!   Chicken & Spinach Alfredo, Combination and Canadian Bacon are all on the menu,  You get to choose whichever one pleases you. Plus a salad, fruit and dessert.

Then on Wednesday, June 12th at noon, we are having Chicken Fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, salad, rolls and chocolate pie for desert.  This is our lunch in honor of Father’s day. If you will, please think of a funny story or memorable story about your father to share.  Or what is the most important thing(s) your father taught you that made an impact on your life. I know, Homework!

Have a great week!  I think it's going to be sunny skies pretty much from now on.
