The farmers market season is underway throughout the Treasure Valley. Gearing up for their 4th consecutive year, the Payette Farmers Market kicked off on Tuesday, July 9th in Payette Kiwanis Park from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
The past three years of the Payette Market have all seen expanded vendor selections, which contributed to doubled attendance, over the previous year. For the 2019 market, market planners are seeing continued interest and heightened anticipation of this year’s event. Vendors offer locally grown and harvested produce, along with homemade cottage food products, handmade products and more.
The Payette Farmers Market is the bi product of a local foods initiative that is overseen by Payette Valley Food Connection and managed by Payette Community Alliance Network. “We continue to strive to fulfill the mission of Payette Valley Food Connection which is to support, promote and increase community awareness and access to sustainable locally grown and produced food in the Payette Valley area”, stated Market Manager, Liz Amason. “It also creates a centralized community gathering spot for area residents to come together and enjoy each other and build new relationships”, Amason continued.
All community members in the Western Treasure Valley are invited to attend. There are also some market vendor openings available, for anyone interested. That information can be located at the group’s website at . The Payette Farmers Market will run for 10 consecutive weeks, every Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Payette Kiwanis Park at 515 S Main Street in Payette.
