Okay boys and girls, did you do your summer homework? And a review of your bucket list showed that you haven't taken enough time for YOU, right. How about a rafting trip on the Snake? My son and I did this and had a blast – of course it helped that he yelled YeeHaa every time mom got a face full of river water – I was sitting in the bottom of the raft so I would stay in. Oh what we do to make our kids happy (even when they're older than they should be).
The Center received a very generous bequest from the Estates of John and Shirley Atteberry. Earlier this year we received another sizable bequest from the Estate of Angie Turley. What a thoughtful way to help your favorite non-profits. You may want to discuss this aspect of your financial planning with your advisor.
Sept 18th will be drawing day for our rifle – Remington 30.06 w/mounted scope, carrying case and transfer fees paid. Only 200 tickets will be sold at $10 each. Each ticket you buy helps support our Center.
The next Ontario shopping trip is set for 9/10; be sure to sign up so you don't miss out. You can shop wherever, buy lunch, have a few laughs or knit or nap on the way home and Crystal will even unload your goodies so you don't have to. Free service if you're over 60 or $10 if you are under. What a deal.
Coming on down soon is the beef raffle drawing on 11/13. CTC bought a 4H-raised blue ribbon steer at the fair and donated it to the Center. Loveland's has been storing our frozen critter (at least somebody is cool) and the 4 drawings for a mixed ¼ of him will make 4 someones very happy. (Hint – last year one of our winners donated their ¼ beef to the Center and saved our having to buy beef for several meals. How about an early present for your kids?). $5 a ticket or 6 tickets for $20.
Don't forget to bring in your unwanted treasures for our Oct silent auction. We plan to enthusiastically advertise this event to bring in public. The more good things we can offer, the more money we can raise to support our Center.
Upcoming menus. Weds 9/4 (noon) is baked ham, scalloped potatoes, garden salad, homemade rolls, carrots and marbled chocolate bars. Fri 9/6 (5:30) we will be enjoying Dorito pie, garden salad, banana and dessert. Weds 9/11 (noon) Ursula is fixing hamburger steak w/mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, rolls, garden salad and blueberry crisp (and a moment of remembrance).
It's still warm out there (unless you are steer-sitting at Loveland's) so stay cool and hydrated.
