So long summer.   Saw s..w on the nearby mountain tops today.  Pile on the quilts and get ready to keep warm.  (Sorry about the 4-letter word.)
First things first – we still have beef raffle tickets to sell. We only have 6 more weeks until the drawing (11/13) so we need to moove right along. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Four lucky people will win ¼ of Kevin (mixed box) – just enough to get through the winter.
Weds. 10/2 a representative from Adams County Health Care will present information after lunch on Alzheimer's disease.
Our monthly van shopping trip to Ontario is scheduled for Tues. 10/8. Sign up sheet is at the front desk at the Center or call Janice to get your name on the list. Who knows, Crystal may get carried away and take you all to Vegas. Whoopee
Food pantry will be Weds 10/16. Canned fruits and adult or kids cereal are on the wish list.
The pinochle group will continue to meet on Mon. and Fri. Call Janice for specific times if you want to learn or join in.
Bunco is planned for Fri. 10/18th at 6:30 pm. Cost is $5 for the evening – ½ of the money is given to the Center and the other ½ is divided among the winners. Please bring your own drink (non-alcoholic);  light finger food will be available.
On 10/23 Brad Talbot from Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) will be available at the Center to discuss Medicare Part D with anyone who wishes. Open enrollment for Medicare Part D runs from 10/15 to 12/6. If you want to meet with Brad on 10/23, please call 208-334-4278 for an appointment.
Harvestfest for the Center is coming up soon. We have a sign up sheet for anyone volunteering a pie. Pies will be sold by the slice or whole. At the same time we will be holding our annual Silent Auction in the card room and back room. More later.
Bring your tired twinkle toes to the foot clinic the morning of 10/28. Call Janice to make an appointment. The Center's Board meeting is 10/9 at 10:30 am at the bank conference room.
Dinner bell: Weds. 10/2 features pork roast, mashed potatoes & gravy, mixed veggies, salad, rolls and pineapple dump cake. Fri. 10/4 we'll enjoy spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, garden salad, pears and dessert. Weds. 10/9 we'll be enjoying meat loaf, baked potato, beets, garden salad, rolls and magic cookies.
Keep the pets (dog, cats, goats etc) inside during these cooler days and nights. Snuggle with them at night to keep you warm. You may find yourself sleeping alone but at least you'll be warm
