The passion for mountain biking started for Josh Stallings back in 1994. Having no one to ride with, his passion fizzled out for years. After a significant life change, Josh decided to get back into the game and spark passion in others. The Weiser MTB Club was founded by Josh this year and has since blown up into an organization with so much potential. After announcing on Facebook that he was looking for people to ride with, he discovered many interested community members.
The Weiser MTB Club welcomes riders of all ages and abilities. Their goal is to have fun, create a positive experience, advocate for bike safety, and provide a youth activity that is safe and different than anything else we have here in the community. Biking and mountain biking have their own risks, so the MTB Club focuses on safety for all riders. All riders under the age of 18 must have a helmet and anyone over 18 are highly encouraged to wear one. Josh offers safety clinics to teach riders about helmet awareness, shifting, braking, rules of the road, and many other essential tips.
Exciting new happenings are in the works! Weiser MTB Club has recently partnered with our local Love INC to offer bike donations to community members who are unable to purchase their own bike. Donations are graciously accepted! Bikes needing minor repairs are also welcomed. Contact Josh Stallings for more information on where to take donations.
The MTB Club is also in the process of teaming with the Idaho Forest Service and the Weiser River Trail to clean up bike trails and possibly create new trails in the future! The Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association (SWIMBA) is an organization dedicated to building and preserving trails in Idaho. SWIMBA will also be joining the effort to bring more trails to our area. The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is also geared to help by pairing with the MTB Club in Weiser by providing scholarships in the future. So many exciting ideas and developments! The possibilities are endless.
If you would like to get involved with the Weiser MTB Club, you can find them on Facebook at “Weiser MTB Club” sports page or on Instagram @weisermtbclub.
New riders are always encouraged to join, volunteers, and donations also welcomed!
Thank you, Josh, for bringing something new and exciting to our great community!
