From The Office Of The Payette County Sheriff

Payette, ID. On July 6th, 2020 a Payette County Inmate tested positive for COVID-19. The inmate began showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and was transported to a local hospital. The inmate has been in custody at the Payette County Jail since February 26, 2020. It is not known at this time how the inmate contracted the virus.
In response to the positive case, the Payette County Sheriff’s Office has placed the positive inmate in a single cell. The Jail Deputies are monitoring all inmates and staff that have had direct contact with the inmate that has tested positive.
Southwest District Health (SWDH) has met with the Payette County Sheriff’s Office and Payette County Emergency Managers. They have recommended procedures to be followed over the 14-day quarantine. Payette County has implemented the recommendations provided by SWDH and will be working directly with them through this process. The recommendations from SWDH include screening, monitoring, testing, and sanitizing.

The Jail has suspended all outside programming. This includes inmate visitation.
